Weaving baskets and weaving dreams.
Have you ever thought about quitting your day job to follow your passion? Sima Oren did just that. At the age of 42, after years of working as an accountant, Sima decided to pursue her dream of weaving.
“I’m weaving baskets and weaving dreams. I gather talented women from all over the Galilee and we create weaving workshops together.” Sima, who is better known as “Sima Salima,” works with Jewish and Arab women to teach weaving to people throughout Israel, at the same time delivering messages of peace and co-existence.
As an artist and mentor for individuals and groups, Sima empowers the people in her workshops. “I believe that each person has a hidden artist inside and by weaving a basket, these inner qualities are revealed.”
