  • Welcome by our representative and assistance with arrival formalities.
  • Begin with a panoramic tour of Casablanca and its diverse neighborhoods.
  • The Glory of Moroccan Jewry: Guided visit through the Museum of the Jews of Morocco, for a glimpse into the rich and colorful world of Moroccan Jewry.
  • Check into the hotel
  • 6:00 p.m. Meet with a representative of the Mimouna Association, a group of Moroccan Muslim students striving to preserve and promote the history of Morocco's ancient Jewish community.
  • 7:30 p.m. LaDa'at Focus An inside look at Moroccan Culture: Welcome dinner and orientation with your tour educator.

Day Three: Tuesday, October 29, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Visit the famous Mosque of Hassan II (the third largest mosque in the world).
  • Depart Casablanca and begin the drive east.
  • Lunch on own, en-route.
  • Continue to the ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded in the 3rd century B.C.E., the town became an important outpost of the Roman Empire.
  • Depart for Fes, the most extensive medieval city in the Arab world, and the home of Jewish scholars and rabbis for hundreds of years.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Dinner on own.

Day Four: Wednesday, October 30, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Take in a panoramic view of the Medina of Fes from Borj Sud.
  • Enjoy a guided visit through the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) of Fes and visit the Ibn Danan Synagogue and the El Fassiyin Synagogue, two ancient synagogues that have been restored.
  • Visit the famous Fes Jewish cemetery, where some of the city's legendary rabbis are buried.
  • Continue on a guided walk through the Medina, where the famous Jewish scholar Maimonides once lived. Our visit includes:
    • A glimpse of local craftsman at work in their shops as they weave, embroider, carve and chisel today as they have done for centuries.
    • A tour of the Madrasa Bou Inania, founded in the years 1351-56. The madrasa is one of the few religious places in Morocco accessible to non-Muslim visitors.
  • Lunch at a restaurant en route and continue with:
    • A visit to the Museum of Wooden Arts in the beautifully restored former Caravan Stop.
    • A look into the University of Al-Karaouine or Al-Qarawiyyin (Arabic: ????? ?????????), considered by the Guinness Book of Records, UNESCO and many historians as the oldest continuously operating, academic degree-granting university in the world.
  • Visit the Tanneries of Fes, which give the Medina its unique flavor and smell.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Dinner on own and evening at leisure.

Day Five: Thursday, October 31, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Depart for Meknes, located in a fertile plain north of the Middle Atlas, and the former residence of the Sultan.
  • LaDa'at Focus Urban versus Rural with your tour educator.
  • Arrive in Meknes and visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, who established his royal capital here during his long reign (1672-1727).
  • Continue with a visit to the Royal Stables.
  • Meet with a caretaker of the Old Jewish Synagogue for an introduction to what was and what remains of Jewish Life.
  • Depart for Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
  • Lunch on own, en-route.
  • Arrive in Rabat and take a tour of the city, including a walk around the walls of the Royal Palace and a visit to the Mausoleums of Mohammad V and Hassan II, two rulers who worked hand-in-hand with the Jewish community.
  • Enjoy a guided walk through the Old Walled City and the marvelous Kasbah des Oudayas.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Dinner on own and evening at leisure.

Day Six: Friday, November 1, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
  • Depart for Marrakech.

    • The Saadian Tombs, built in the 16th century as a mausoleum for many Saadian rulers and entertainers.
    • Walking tour in the Medina including the 19th-century Bahia Palace.
  • Lunch on own.
  • Experience the Djemaa El Fna Square, one of the most colorful and mysterious sites in all of Africa, with its snake-charmers, street vendors, musicians, jugglers, fortune-tellers and storytellers.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Dinner on your own and evening at leisure.

Day Eight: Sunday, November 3, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to the National park of Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.
  • Continue to the Ouirgane Valley, home to Many small Berber villages and one of the most breathtaking part of the Atlas Mountains. The region's hills and valleys are littered with untouched forests, fruit orchards and roses throughout the gardens.
  • Enjoy a demonstration of local bread making and enjoy a traditional lunch.
  • Discover these remote villages and their Berber community who will welcome us in one of the houses for a traditional mint tea.
  • Return to Marrakech.
  • Dinner on your own and evening at leisure.

Day Nine: Monday, November 4, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Depart Marrakech and drive to Essaouira, a charming fishing port on the Atlantic coast.
  • Along the way, stop at a women's cooperative producing Argan oil and cosmetics.
  • Arrive in Essaouira and view the impressive town fortifications, consisting of a mixture of Portuguese and Berber architecture.
  • Explore the souks and carpentry workshops devoted to ceder and thuya wood carving.
  • Lunch at a restaurant.
  • Visit art galleries dotted in the city.
  • Visit the harbor and its stalls of freshly caught fish.
  • Return to Marrakech.
  • Dinner on own.

Day Ten: Tuesday, November 5, 2019

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit the famous Majorelle Garden, created by the orientalist painter Jacques Majorelle, and the Berber Museum housed inside the garden. This mystical garden took 40 years to create, and all one needs is to walk along its paths, in the shade of the trees, and exotic plants, in sight of the lotus and Lilly, by the sparkling pools and springs, to understand why it took so long.
  • Lunch on own.
  • Guided tour through Marrakech's enormous marketplace, followed by free time for last minute shopping.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Farwell dinner at a local restaurant.

  • Group rates are per person based on double occupancy and a minimum of 20 full paying participants per bus. Should the number of participants drop below the minimum listed above, we will adjust the cost of the trip to reflect the additional expense of operating the program.
  • Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel accommodations, motor coach transportation, special dinners, sightseeing, admissions, luggage handling and the services of local guides, drivers, and the tour guide/educator are included.
  • Physical Fitness requirements:
    The nature of this itinerary will make for long days of touring with much exploration, mostly on foot. Some sites include flights of stairs without elevators and stairs without bannisters.
    Participants should be able to:
    • Walk at a moderate pace for extended periods of time without needing to sit
    • Climb flights of stairs or walk up an incline without difficulty
    • Get in and out of transportation unassisted (bus, train, plane, etc.)
  • If you have mobility issues or fitness questions, please contact Da'at to make sure that this trip is suitable for you.
  • Payment Policy
    Da'at Educational Expeditions reserves the right to adjust its terms of payment, including cancellation policies and initial deposits. Notification of any changes will be made explicitly to the participants where relevant.
    - Initial deposit of $500 per person, non-refundable, non-transferable is due at the time of reservation unless another amount is indicated for the particular trip or seminar.
    - Final payment is due 90 days before the scheduled trip begins, or as specified in your invoice.
  • Cancellation Policy:
    Cancellations need to be made in writing. Cancellation fees will be based on the date that the written cancellation is received.
    Cancellation fees:
    • 90 days or more prior to departure: the deposit
    • 89 to 46 days prior to departure: 50% of the total trip cost
    • 45 days to the day of departure/no-show: 100% of the total trip cost
      Cancellation fees may also include:
      - Hotel or supplier cancellation fees.
      - Group airfare penalty fee.
  • Airport Taxes & Fuel Surcharges are estimated and subject to change at any time. 
    Airport Taxes & Fuel Surcharges are not guaranteed unless the group air tickets have been issued. Group air tickets are issued approximately 35 days prior to departure. Group air tickets are only issued upon receipt of full payment from all of the trip participants. 
    Air and land packages are open for registration until JUNE 15, 2019 (based on availability), thereafter the tour will be available for land-only services. Cancellation of group air reservations after JUNE 15, 2019 (and before the group flight tickets are issued) will entail a penalty of $100 per ticket. 

    Airfare to the tour departure point and from the tour ending point is not included.

  • Hotel Accommodations: The trip price includes all hotel accommodations, in hotel rooms with private baths. Our standard is to provide the best available hotels while considering value. Although the level of the accommodations may differ slightly from hotel to hotel, we are committed to your comfort. Standard-size rooms are generally smaller outside of North America. They usually accommodate two people and include either one queen-size bed or two single beds (pushed together and made up separately, but with one headboard). While some hotels provide an extra bed in a standard-size room for use by a child under the age of 12, we recommend that families of four or more should book adjoining or connecting rooms.
  • Meals are included as specified in the itinerary.
  • Tour Educator or Guide: All trips are conducted by our tour educators or local guides who remain with the group throughout the tour.
  • Gratuities Included: All gratuities for restaurant staff at group meals are included.


  • Transportation in the evening when dinner is on own.
  • Amendments to the program: In the event that any sites, programs or meals etc are added to the program, an additional fee may be required.
  • Personal extras: Items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than the table d'hotel menu, passport and visa fees, insurance, and foreign port taxes, unless otherwise specified.
