The Israel University Consortium: 16th Israel University Study Tour for Study Abroad Professionals (IUST)

 

The Israel University Consortium’s Israel University Study Tour (IUST) provides study abroad professionals with the knowledge and insight necessary to effectively facilitate study abroad in Israel, while acquainting or reacquainting them with the beauty and vitality of Israel.

The IUST includes full-day visits to each one of the IUC campuses: Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Rothberg International School - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University International, Technion International, and the University of Haifa International School.

The ten-day tour also takes participants to various points of interest around the country, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Beer-Sheva, the Old City of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Masada and more!

Cost and Subsidy

The IUST is heavily subsidized by the Israel University Consortium and almost all ground arrangements will be covered for participants.

These costs include:

  • Ground Transportation
  • Hotel accommodations
  • Professionally guided tours
  • Admission fees to sites
  • Welcome reception
  • Most restaurant meals

Fees not included: Participant airfare, select “free evening” meals, and gratuities.

Admission Process: The Israeli University Consortium will review all applications submitted by the October 15th deadline, and will send out notices of acceptance by the 15th of November.
Please note that payment of a $350 non-refundable registration fee is required in order to confirm participation in the Israel University Study Tour.

Day One: Sunday, March 10, 2019
ARRIVAL

  • Group arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport.
  • Group VIP Welcome by our representative and assistance with arrival formalities.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Enter the city of Tel Aviv, also known as the “city that never sleeps,” with its centers of culture, recreation and national history, great beaches, and fine stores.
  • Visit the Old City of Jaffa and ascend from the old port through the renovated alleyways to the Jaffa Overlook for an introduction to Tel Aviv at the place where it all began.
  • Festive welcome dinner at a local restaurant in Tel Aviv.

Day Two: Monday, March 11, 2019
TEL AVIV UNIVERSITY 

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit and meetings at Tel Aviv University.
  • Lunch at the TAU campus.
  • Evening program and dinner hosted by Tel Aviv University.

Overnight: Tel Aviv


Day Three: Tuesday, March 12, 2019
HEBREW UNIVERSITY            

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check out of the hotel and drive to Jerusalem.
  • Spend the day at the Scopus Campus of Hebrew University.
  • Lunch on the Hebrew University campus.
  • Dinner hosted by Hebrew University.

Day Four: Wednesday, March 13, 2019
THE LAYERS OF JERUSALEM 

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit Yad Vashem, the Jewish National Memorial to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, including:
    • The Avenue of the Righteous
    • The Historical Museum
    • The Children's Memorial
  • Lunch on own at Machane Yehuda, Jerusalem's world-renowned open-air market (shuk).
  • Enter the Old City of Jerusalem.
  • Walk through the Jewish Quarter and explore for its archaeological treasures and other highlights:
    • The Cardo, the main street of Jerusalem in the 6th
    • King Hezekiah's First Temple-period “Broad Wall.”
    • Hurva Square, the central square of the Jewish Quarter.
  • Stop at the Kotel (Western Wall) and experience the special atmosphere of this holy site.
  • Explore the fascinating medieval Church of the Holy Sepulchre, venerated by many as the site of the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Dinner in Jerusalem as a group at one of Jerusalem's choice restaurants.

Day Five: Thursday, March 14, 2019
BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Drive to Be'er Sheva, Capital of the Negev, home of the thriving Ben-Gurion University.
  • Visit and meetings at Ben-Gurion University.
  • Lunch at the BGU campus.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Tour Be'er
  • Dinner hosted by Ben-Gurion University.

Day Six: Friday, March 15, 2019
INTO THE DESERT, MASADA & THE DEAD SEA 

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Drive to the Dead Sea Basin.
  • Ascend Masada by cable car to visit Herod's mountain palace and site of the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the Roman Legionnaires. Explore the rich archaeological remains from the Roman period.
  • Lunch on own, en route.
  • Float in the Dead Sea.
  • Check into the hotel.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day Seven: Saturday, March 16, 2019
TO THE NORTH

  • Dinner hosted jointly by the University of Haifa and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

Day Ten: Tuesday, March 19, 2019
ALONG THE COAST

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Check out of the hotel and depart.
  • Guided visit to Caesarea, one of the Land of Israel's most important cities in the Roman Period. Visit the Herodian Theater and the excavations along the Mediterranean shore, concluding with a visit to the ruined 900-year-old Crusader town.
  • Return to Tel Aviv for free time and dinner on own (pending departure flight time).
  • Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport for departure flights to the USA.

  • A $350 deposit (unless otherwise indicated) per person is due after the announcement of the program’s participants. The deposit once accepted into the program is non-refundable and non-transferable. Online payment of the deposit can be made by credit card - Visa or MasterCard.
  • Hotel Accommodations: The tour price includes all hotel accommodations, in hotel rooms with private baths. Our standard is to provide the best available hotels while considering value. Although the level of the accommodations may differ slightly from hotel to hotel, we are committed to your comfort. Two-bedrooms are reserved in most hotels. Please note that spouses are not part of the program and cannot join.
  • The option of a single room during the program is available for an additional $755.
  • Meals are included as specified in the itinerary.
  • Expedition Director / Tour Educator or Guide: All trips are conducted by our tour educators or local guides who remain with the group throughout the tour.
  • Gratuities not included: All gratuities for restaurant staff are not included.
  • Baggage: All tour packages/group tours allow one piece of luggage per person and one carry-on bag. The Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator, shall not be held responsible for any damage to or loss of luggage/personal items. All damage/loss must be reported at the time of the incident and documented in writing by local authorities for submission to the insurance company. With regard to airline baggage allowance, different carriers have different regulations for business and coach, please check with your individual carrier with regard to the permitted number of pieces, weights, and dimensions. The tour operator is not responsible for fees levied by any air carrier for the transport of personal belongings of any kind.

 

 

Not Included

  • Personal Expenses: All personal expenses such as laundry, valet service, cables, telephone calls and postage are not included.
  • Transportation in the evening when dinner is on own.
  • Personal extras: Items of personal nature such as laundry, wines, mineral water, beverages, coffee, tea, food other than the table d'hotel menu, passport and visa fees, insurance, and foreign port taxes, unless otherwise specified.
  • US and foreign airport taxes, Q fuel surcharge and border taxes when applicable.

 

 

Additional Information

  • Airline Security Measures: In the U.S., you must provide identification in the form of a passport at the time of airport check-in for travel to international destinations. Your passport name must match the name on your tour reservation and airline ticket or you may be denied boarding.
  • If you are traveling from an airport outside the jurisdiction of the U.S, you will need to determine what travel documentation and identification is required for that particular airport.
  • Due to heightened security regulations, certain items such as a metal nail file, pocketknife, cigarette lighter or tweezers, and some liquid, gel, or aerosol items may not be permitted in your carry-on luggage. Please call your airline prior to departure to obtain current information on non-permissible carry-on items and recommended airport check-in times. You may also wish to visit the Transportation Security Administration website at www.tsa.gov to obtain more information on acceptable identity documentation and prohibited luggage items.
  • Holidays and Museum Closures - Museum visits and personal shopping time may be disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances or the many religious, state and local holidays locally observed in the destinations being visited.
  • Photography for Promotional Purposes: We may use for promotional purposes photographs, images or videos taken by tour participants or by anyone associated with the tour operator. No payment or compensation will be made for use of this material. If you do not want images of yourself or your tour party to be included in our marketing activities, you are required to notify us by the start of your tour.
